1969 Fender Mustang Competition Burgundy SN: 252774

kr. 49.999,00

1969 Fender Mustang Competition — same year, same model, same Burgundy finish that Kurt Cobain famously played.

Neck stamped 16 JUL 69B. Original Competition tremolo and CTS pots. Aftermarket neck pickup — otherwise original. Comes in the original case.

The Burgundy has naturally faded over five decades into the blue-green hue you see today — a hallmark of this finish. It also shows one of the most beautiful examples of finish checking we’ve seen in a long time.

Beskrivelse

Introduced as a student model, the Fender Mustang was designed to be simple, short scale and accessible. Over time it became something else entirely. By the early ’90s, the Competition Mustang had cemented its place in alternative rock history.

This example is an original 1969 Competition model. The neck is stamped 16 JUL 69B, dating it to July 16, 1969 — the same year and finish associated with Kurt Cobain’s well-known Mustang.

The Burgundy finish has aged exactly as expected for this colour. Over five decades it has shifted toward the distinctive blue-green hue visible today. Under the pickguard, the original deeper Burgundy remains clearly visible.

The lacquer displays one of the most beautiful examples of finish checking we’ve seen in a long time — fine, even lines across the body that add depth, texture and undeniable vintage character.

The guitar retains its original Competition tremolo and correctly dated CTS 250K potentiometers. The bridge pickup is original; the neck pickup has been replaced with an aftermarket unit. One pickguard screw is a later replacement. Aside from these details, the instrument remains original.

Condition is excellent for its age, with honest wear and minor touch-ups primarily under the pickguard.

It comes in what appears to be the original case.

Our workshop has inspected and set up the instrument, and it is fully playable and ready for its next owner.
